WHARTON ALUMNI HOSTS RECEPTION |

Wharton Alumni from the Penn/Wharton Club of Malaysia organized the first event of 2008, hosting a cocktail reception on 6 March 2008. The event was held at The Loaf, a gourmet Japanese bakery that has opened in Kuala Lumpur's newest shopping destination, The Pavilion.
Turnout for the event was good and made especially so since invitations were extended to Malaysian-based alumni of the University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business. A number of familiar faces were present and many new acquaintances were made in what turned out to be an excellent evening of networking with our new friends from Chicago GSB.
Not all talk was about business, though: with the Malaysian General Election scheduled barely two days later, there was plenty to talk about.
(Postscript: with those said elections now over, there's probably even more to talk about now!)
As for the venue, The Loaf has established itself as one of the premier fresh bakeries in the city. One of the co-owners is none other than Jiro Suzuki, WG95, whose career path has led from finance to technology to venture capital and now to the food & beverage industry. More information on The Loaf is available at http://www.theloaf.net

DO YOU HAVE A CHILD OR GRANDCHILD APPLYING TO COLLEGE? |
Is he or she interested in learning more about Penn? The Alumni Council on Admissions (ACA) is a resource for alumni families who have children or grandchildren going through the undergraduate admissions process at Penn.
When alumni and their prospective students plan a college visit to Penn, the ACA encourages the family to attend a group information session and campus tour offered by the Undergraduate Admissions Office.
In addition, the ACA staff will be available for an informal Q&A session about legacy admissions every Monday and Friday (except University holidays) from 12:15-1:00 p.m. in the E. Craig Sweeten Alumni House, 3533 Locust Walk. In March and April, we will be available every weekday (Monday through Friday), same time and location.
The ACA offers the convenience of on-campus interviews for legacy applicants. Interviews begin in June, after students have completed their junior year of high school. To schedule an optional on-campus interview with the ACA, please call our office at 215-898-6888. We encourage you to contact us 4-6 weeks in advance of any preferred date. For more information, see our Frequently Asked Questions.
